Children's Oral Health Care
< back
Tooth decay and gum diseases are among the most common infectious diseases in the world. We can prevent these types of disease with early intervention, education, advice and treatment tailored to individual situations.
Starting professional dental care early for our children can help them have good experiences at the dentist, and to avoid the pain and trauma that un-checked or un-treated dental diseases can result in.
School aged children require gentle, compassionate and appropriate dental care to build and maintain good relationships with dental care providers, and to achieve optimal oral health to prevent oral diseases over the course of their lives.
Withers Dental Surgery employs Oral Health Therapists who work in conjunction with our Dentists to help provide quality primary dental care for children aged 4 to 17 inclusive. Their duties include examinations, preventive care (i.e. plaque and calculus removal, application of calcium and fluoride products, dietary and oral hygiene advice and fissure sealants), as well as restorations (fillings), extracting baby teeth where indicated, and referrals to appropriate dental and pediatric specialists.
Children younger than 4yrs old can also happily be treated at our surgery, and of course once they turn 18 and become a legal adult, our accomplished dentists will continue optimal dental care for all our patients.
